Tiger’s Eye

Tiger’s eye is quartz that has replaced fibrous crocidolite while preserving its fibre structure, so the polished stone shows rolling golden bands of light that shift as it moves. The Northern Cape of South Africa supplies most of the world’s material, with further deposits in Western Australia, India, Myanmar and Brazil; the blue-grey form is called hawk’s eye and the red variety is usually heat-treated. Its chatoyancy links it to Ketu as an accessible alternative to true cat’s eye, while its golden colour places it under the Sun — so it is offered at Suryanar Kovil or Keezhaperumpallam depending on the reading. It suits Simmam, Mesham and Dhanusu natives, and is worn for courage, focus, protection and discipline with money.
