Aquamarine
Aquamarine is emerald’s sister stone — the same beryl mineral, coloured pale sea-blue by iron instead of green by chromium — but where emerald is almost always included, aquamarine is typically clean, bright and available in large sizes. Brazil’s Minas Gerais is the principal source, with Nigeria, Madagascar, Pakistan and Indian deposits contributing. Being a beryl, it is generally worn under Mercury and offered at Thiruvenkadu, though some schools place it with Saturn, so the astrologer’s reading should decide. Mithunam, Kanni and Kumbam natives suit it. Named for seawater and carried by sailors as a protective charm, it is worn today for calm courage, clear speech and confidence in public speaking, interviews and negotiation.
