Peridot

Peridot is gem olivine, and unusually it comes in only one colour — olive to lime green — because the green is intrinsic to the mineral rather than caused by an impurity. It forms deep in the earth’s mantle and is carried up by lava; it has also been found in meteorites, making it one of very few gems of extraterrestrial origin. Zabargad Island in the Red Sea supplied Egypt for three and a half thousand years; Mogok in Myanmar, Kohistan in Pakistan, Arizona and China supply today. As a Mercury stone and a budget alternative to emerald, it is offered at Thiruvenkadu and suits Mithunam and Kanni natives. It is worn for mental clarity, sound digestion and freedom from envy and resentment
