Moonstone is a feldspar whose internal layers scatter light into a soft floating sheen called adularescence — a blue-white glow that seems to drift beneath the surface as the stone is tilted. The finest blue-sheen material comes from Meetiyagoda in Sri Lanka; India, Madagascar and Myanmar supply white and rainbow varieties. It is the classic and inexpensive substitute for pearl, offered at Thingalur, and suits Kadagam natives above all.
