Mercury (Budhan)

Budhan governs intelligence, speech, education, trade and accounts, writing, and the nervous system. It is the graha of the merchant and the student, and a strong Mercury shows as fluency, numeracy and commercial skill, while affliction appears as speech difficulties, poor concentration or losses in business. The temple is Swetharanyeswarar Temple at Thiruvenkadu in Mayiladuthurai district, known as Budha Sthalam, with three sacred tanks and the celebrated bronze of Aghora Murthy. Budhan rules Mithunam and Kanni, is exalted in Kanni and debilitated in Meenam, and is the fastest-moving of the grahas, never straying far from the Sun.
